Abstract

Organic residues from the sugar agroindustry, their management and exploitation, represent a central theme that must adjust to the trends of sustainability and social responsibility of all economic activities. The diversification of products and adaptation of production systems to maintain and increase productivity are an area of opportunity to study and innovate in the generation of technologies. There are diverse alternative uses for organic residues, such as livestock feeding, soil bioremediation, obtaining biofuels, obtaining electric energy, and production of organic fertilizers. Alternatives for use and exploitation of sugar cane residues are described, in the field and industry, to highlight the potential for their exploitation, in the short and medium term.
