Abstract

The agronomic potential of twelve Creole populations of habanero pepper (Capsicum chinense Jacq.) was evaluated in three localities of Yucatán, México, during the spring-summer cycle of 2008 and 2009 under risk conditions, in an experimental design of complete random blocks with three repetitions and experimental unit of 40 plants sown at 0.30 m between plants and 1.2 m between furrows. The data were analyzed per locality and through localities (combined). Even when the evaluation of the pepper populations was influenced by the trial’s localities, the H-224 population stood out for its yield and agronomic characters, in addition to others that stood out from particular environmental conditions such as population H-238 in Conkal and H-247 in Ichmul, Yucatán.
