Abstract

Lisianthus (Eustoma grandiflorum [Raf.] Shinn) is an ornamental species that has gained international relevance in the last decade. Nevertheless, despite being native to Mexico, our country has not detonated its cultivation, which could represent an alternative to consolidate national floriculture. To contribute to the knowledge of lisianthus, this review presents aspects related to its origin, classification and botanical description, economic importance and outstanding research carried out in this species.
