Abstract

Since the publication of the General Wild Life Law in México, the management of nonhunting wild life resources was transformed, and the sustainable management and exploitation of these resources became an obligation. The exploitation was typified as extractive and non-extractive, with the first referring to that which implies the use of specimens, parts or byproducts of a flora or fauna species through gathering, capturing or hunting; and the second, to activities that do not imply the removal or specimens, their parts or byproducts. Some examples of the latter are: swimming with sharks or whales, or sighting of whales and birds.
