Abstract

Objective: To know and analyze the actions that the Regional Council of the Mountain Region of Guerrero has carried out for the benefit of the population living in the area.
Methodology: 22 communities from 11 municipalities were considered. A questionnaire was applied to 100 people which included leaders of the Regional Council of the Mountain Region (CRM), leaders and members of organizations affiliated to the CRM, leaders of government agencies, technicians of public agencies and people of the general public. The information was analyzed using descriptive statistics.
Results: The organic structure of the CRM has ten coordinations and five strategic axes of work. The Council prepares and manages different rural development projects before different public institutions, it has wide recognition of the population and institutions of the rural sector for its capacity of management of rural development projects. Its financing is through the preparation and management of projects; as well as minimal contributions from its partners. The CRM has been a dynamic agent of negotiation and management of local development projects and a promoter of the formation of social capital in the region of the Mountain of Guerrero.
Study limitations: The study was limited to the management of rural development projects, the social or
economic impact was not verified.
Conclusions: The CRM has been a dynamic agent of negotiation and management of local development
projects and a promoter of the formation of social capital in the Mountain Region of Guerrero.
